WHY DID I CHOOSE TO STUDY AESTHETICS AFTER SO MANY YEARS IN THE NHS?
I have spent much of my career in emergency medicine and have been fortunate — through dedication and determination — to work across a wide range of roles within the Ambulance Service and Primary Care, progressing to Clinical Lead and Advanced Paramedic.
This remains a significant personal achievement, having worked my way through the profession without early academic support.

After 20 years on the frontline, the emotional and physical demands of emergency care inevitably take their toll. Following a personal loss in 2022, I made a conscious decision to rebalance my professional life and focus on work that allows me to bring confidence, positivity, and well-being to others — while remaining firmly grounded in clinical practice.

Because patient safety and outcomes matter deeply to me, I sought the highest standard of education and mentorship. In 2023, I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine with Interface Aesthetics in Harley Street. This involved a year-long programme of in-person clinical training, external examinations, and master’s level study in law, ethics, and the foundations of aesthetic medicine.

I continue to invest in my professional development, learning from experienced practitioners and Key Opinion Leaders, and have a particular interest in rejuvenation medicine — an evolving and exciting area focused on skin health, longevity, and natural restoration.

Th lesser known side of
me......
Alongside my NHS role and running a busy clinic, I’m a wife, mum, and Labrador owner.
I also act as a GMB union representative and, from 2026, Vice Chair of the Allied Health Professionals in Aesthetics. Through this work, I advocate for professional standards, workforce fairness, and public safety — including giving evidence to the Scottish Parliament on the urgent need for effective regulation and licensing within aesthetic medicine.

I previously led and successfully concluded a seven-year "equal pay for work of equal value" dispute against my NHS employer, securing almost £6.2 million in back pay for approximately 130 colleagues. This experience reinforced my commitment to fairness, accountability, and ethical practice — principles that underpin both my NHS and aesthetic work.
Beyond the outcome itself, the process reinforced my own professional capability — demonstrating that sustained advocacy, integrity, and determination can drive meaningful change, even in the face of significant challenge.

Patient safety, informed consent, and clinical integrity remain central to everything I do.
